estined to caring for and serving the blind since 1926, St. Nicholas’ Home is now looking into passionate and dynamic persons willing to serve in further equipping the blind and visually impaired to enabling them to shape an independent and better life.  Besides providing the fundamental care, we are now covering the key areas of education, employment skills and entrepreneurship so that the blind and visually impaired would find no barriers between them and their sighted peers. I.         ISO DOCUMENT CONTROLLER CUM ADMIN EXECUTIVE

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To liaise and report to Management Representative with regard to Document Control procedures 
  2. Handling all incoming/outgoing correspondence and other documents or report including document register, scan and data input into electronic  system
  3. Receiving and distributing documents for the respective  department
  4. Control and issue documents reference no in accordance with the  document control procedure 
  5. Provide assistance and support to other staff related documentation matter 
  6. Overall responsible on ISO Documentation Control.
  7. Provide administrative support to management whenever required.
  8. The job functions are not only limited or restricted to those stated above. Other duties/tasks may assign from time to time by the superiors and management.

REQUIREMENTS (Might suit a recent retiree)

  1. Minimum Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent related field
  2. A good knowledge in computing is a MUST
  3. At least 2 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  4. Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English 
  5. Preferably able to start work immediately
  6. Possess own transport

II.         VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT OFFICER

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure proper and high quality training is provided to the blind and visually impaired clients and promote the client’s maximum potential for community living.
  2. Determine applicants eligibility for programme services and to develop, implement and manage vocationally-focused individual plans.
  3. Provide education to the community, including the Home’s employees, in topics related to blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS (Might suit a recent retiree)

  1. Minimum Diploma in Social work or related field.
  2. Minimum 3 years of related working experience with minimum 1 year at supervisory level in the related field.
  3. Computer Literate/ISO Knowledge.
  4. Good spoken/written Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

III.         TEACHER / ASST. TEACHER FOR DEAF BLIND / MULTI-HANDICAPPED CENTRE

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Assigned to individual child and are responsible for the child’s development.
  2. Access new children and prepare lesson plans for the development of the children.
  3. Document the progress of the child and maintain appropriate records.
  4. Responsible for the welfare of all the children in the Deaf/Blind Unit and provide support to the Individual child or group children assigned to them.
  5. Assist in escorting children on outings, trip to hospitals/clinics and any related trips as and when required.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum SPM/SPTM academic qualification.
  2. Capable handling/working with handicapped children especially visually impaired.
  3. Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English language.
  4. Knowledge in basic computing is recommended.

IV.         SENIOR CITIZENS COORDINATOR

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Mature, able to see to the welfare of the Senior Citizens of the Home (Medication, food, hospital appointments etc.).
  2. Able to plan recreational activities for the Senior Citizens.

Requirements:

  1. SPM/MCE with proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  2. Preferably with some nursing knowledge (retired nurses are encouraged to apply).
  3. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  4. Must possess a valid Driving License.

V.     SKILLS DEVELOPMENT CENTRE Instructor (S.D.C. INSTRUCTOR) (2 positions)

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Carries out programs of instruction with individuals and small groups in Daily Living Skills, Orientation & Mobility Skills, Basic Braille knowledge and Social & Communication Skills as appropriate for the client’s needs, e.g. food preparation, budgeting, money management, understanding and manage prescribed medicine, house cleaning, clothing care and identification, personal grooming, sewing, eating skills, and business etiquette
  2. Instruct and guide trainees in job skills including personal and home management, keyboarding, and communication skills, and develops individualized plans of instruction to meet clients’ needs.
  3. Emphasizes the effective use of any residual vision, tactile and other sensory modes, and reinforces learning associated with other areas of instruction.

Requirements:

  1. Professional qualification or at least two years working experience in any vocational fields.
  2. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.  On the job trainings will be provided.
  3. Posses a valid driving license.

VI.         IT ASSISTANT

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in conducting trainings for the blind and visually impaired people. Organize, monitor and improve Computer Training & Assistive Technology Services Training.  Provide relevant consultations and support to the trainees.
  2. Ensure the computers in the lab are in good condition.
  3. Responsible for the trainees’ progress during the training period.
  4. The job functions are not only limited or restricted to those stated above. Other duties/tasks may assign from time to time by the superiors and management.

Requirements:

  1. Min SPM/Certificate in any related field
  2. Well versed in computing e.g. Windows, Ms. Office and etc)
  3. Experience in teaching will be an added advantage.

VII. ADMIN CLERK

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Assist superiors in documentation works.
  2. In charge to issuing stationeries and keeping proper stock of it.
  3. Assisting the telephone operator to attend to telephone calls and to make calls as required.
  4. General assistance/support for Administration Department.
  5. Able to talk to visitors/donors/volunteers about St. Nicholas Home when there is enquiries the front counter.

 REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Minimum SPM/MCE with proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  2. Computer Literate.
  3. Good interpersonal, public relations and communicative skills.

VIII.    JOB PLACEMENT OFFICER 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Undertaking Vocational Profiling with individuals as well as finding and marketing for employment in line with the Home’s strategies.
  2. The work will involve training individuals in specific job skills in a range of working environments (which may often entail learning and working in the job) as well as monitoring individuals in work placements offering on-going support and training where necessary.  May require to advice employers in making modification to their work place to maximize the productivity of the blind employee.
  3. To provide a flexible and supportive approach to employers, as well as clients, in order that a successful outcome for both can be achieved and maintained.
  4. The role will also involve maintaining established records and information systems and producing reports and information which may be required by the line supervisor in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.

  4. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of abilities
  5. A natural talent to get the best out of people and build good relationships

 

IX.    MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Clean all the drains within the compound.
  2. Cut the grass to maintain the cleanliness of the compound.
  3. Sweep and dispose all rubbish found within the compound.
  4. Water all the plants and cut the overgrown branches of the trees.
  5. Ensure there is no mosquito breeding within the compound.
  6. Assist in transferring or moving furniture, or any other bulky items.
  7. Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in electrical, masonry, plumbing and carpentry jobs.

REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Minimum SRP/SPM.
  2. Basic knowledge in Plumbing & Electrical.
  3. Knowledge in computing will be an added advantage.
  4. Fluent in English & Malay language.
