SNH has had a school library of braille books for the use of its school children with vision impairment since the 1950s. Through the years, the library grew in its collection of books and its variety of users until in 1980 it became the first national braille library.
The Home’s library loans Braille and talking books in English and Malay to print-disabled members all over the country. Print-disabled individuals who would like to borrow reading materials from the St. Nicholas’ Home, Penang Library are requested to sign up as members by completing a Library Membership Application Form. The Library distributes Braille calendars in English and Malay to users annually free of charge. To apply the service, click here.
