Ride for Sight 2012

April 10th, 2012 @

After lasts years’ success, we from St. Nicholas’ Home organized the “Ride for Sight” for the second time this past Sunday, with G Club as co-organizing partner and together with MPPP. This year we organized the event at the heritage side of Georgetown, starting and finishing at Straits Quay.

At first we didn’t had so many participants, only about 200, but after the last press conference we couldn’t believe our eyes, more than 700 participants!

On the day itself  the Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Lim Guan Eng, gave the starting signal and joined the Ride for Sight on one of our tandem-bikes. After the event the participants and other visitors could enjoy Mr. B and three rounds of lucky draw. Our trainees had a great day; this Ride for Sight was the peak of all the tandem bike trainings they had and they really enjoyed the cycling.

Through this event, we showed the people in Penang and Malaysia that the Blind and Visually Impaired people of Malaysia have the same opportunities as their normal peers and that they also care about a healthy living nurturing Mother Nature.

We are already looking forward to the next Ride For Sight and we hope to see you all next year!
