ST. NICHOLAS’ HOME FOR THE BLIND, PENANG.
St. Nicholas’ Home is a charitable organisation and the oldest social outreach ministry of the Anglican Diocesan of West Malaysia. We have been providing training, education and social services to empower the blind and vision-impaired children and adults alike for nearly 90 years. As we expand our services and reach, we are now seeking suitable candidates to fill in the following vacancies:-
1. Resource Development Officers
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop strategies and set goals to meet fund raising targets.
- Identification and acquisition of grants and major donations from philanthropic bodies, government departments and the corporate sectors.
- Write project proposals for business organisations.
- Organise events to create awareness and raise funds for the Home.
Requirements:
- Minimum Degree in any field with good written and communication skills.
- Results-orientated, highly motivated and pro-active and good public relation skills.
- Able to work under pressure and able to drive.
2. IT Officer
Main Responsibilities:
- Organize, monitor and improve Computer Training & Assistive Technology Services Training. Provide consultations to clients and educators.
- Coordinate computer & assistive technology services to include assessments, on-site visits to evaluate computer & assistive technology needs, equipment recommendations, assistive technology equipment installation and technical support.
- Responsible for maintaining a demographic database, and the proper maintenance of computers and assistive devices.
- Lead projects related to computer & assistive technology services as per needs.
Requirements:
- Minimum Degree in related field.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in related field.
- Good knowledge in computer hardware/software.
3. Junior RD Officer
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to Resource Development Department in administrative areas and also organizing online fund raising activities for the Home.
- Maintain and update the St. Nicholas’ Home Website.
- Write project proposals and Newsletter.
- Assist in organizing events to create awareness and raise funds for the Home.
Requirements:
- Minimum Diploma in any field with good written and communication skills.
- Results-orientated, highly motivated and pro-active and good public relation skills.
- Able to work under pressure and able to drive.
4. Teachers/Assistant Teachers (DBMH/TASKA)
Main Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the teaching, welfare and supervision of the children in the unit.
- Able to plan individual Education Programme for each child assigned.
- To support and train families of these children.
Requirements:
- Minimum SPM with proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
- Certificate in Special Education is an added advantage
- Diploma in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy is preferred.
- Experience in working with children or handicapped children will be an advantage.
5. Independent Living Skills Instructors
Main Responsibilities:
- To provide trainings for the Blind and Visually Impaired Persons, to develop their Job skills, Mobility skills and Daily Living skills and prepare them to be self-employed or to be employed.
Requirements:
- Minimum SPM.
- Diploma in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy is preferred.
- Good written and communication skills.
- Good computer skills
- Able to drive
6. Handicraft Instructor
Main Responsibilities:
- To provide trainings and teaching the Blind and Visually Impaired Persons on the Handicraft/Basketry.
- To monitor the trainees’ progress and development.
Requirements:
- Minimum SPM.
- Experience in teaching handicraft/basketry.
- Good written and communication skills.
- Good computer skills
7. Occupational Therapist
Main Responsibilities:
- To assess and give recommendations for suitable rehabilitation for clients (children, in-house trainees, senior citizens, walk-in clients etc.)
- To assist in IEP preparation for the Early Intervention and Deaf Blind Multi handicapped Programmes and to conduct counselling when the need arises.
- Able to travel outstation and visit clients in their home environment when necessary.
Requirements:
- Minimum Diploma in Occupational Therapist.
- Good written and communication skills.
- Able to drive.
8. Pastry Instructor
Main Responsibilities:
- To teach baking to a group of visually-impaired trainees in the pastry department.
- To plan, prepare and execute daily pastry and baking lessons.
Requirements:
- Minimum Diploma in Baking & Pastry or actual working experience in similar role may be considered
- Minimum 2 years experience in any Bakeries.
- Good written and communication skills.
9. Finance Clerk
Main Responsibilities:
- Perform day to day processing of accounts transactions (payable/income).
Requirements:
- Minimum Certificate/Diploma in Bookkeeping/Accounting
- Minimum 2 years working experience.
- Good computer skills.
10. EIP Assistant (Early Intervention Programme)
Main Responsibilities:
- To provide home based training and guidance to visually impaired children and their families.
- To assist in the review, assessment, evaluation and modification of the Individual Training Plan to suit the needs of the visually impaired children.
- To assist in the monitoring of the visually impaired children’s development through regular home visits and training.
- Able to travel outstation and visit clients in their home environment.
Requirements:
- Minimum SPM.
- Good written and communication skills.
- Able to drive
11. LV Assistant (Low Vision)
Main Responsibilities:
- To provide counselling service, Low Vision Training and education on LV clients.
- To provide outreach service to potential and existing clients.
- To assist in conducting seminar, awareness and educational exhibition about LV.
- To assist in the ongoing public awareness and prevention of Blindness campaign.
Requirements:
- Minimum SPM.
- Diploma in Physiotherapy is preferred
- Good written and communications skills.
- Able to drive and willing to travel outstation.
12. Housemothers
Main Responsibilities:
- To assist in the teaching, welfare and supervision of the children in the unit.
- To be able to prepare simple meals for the children and to ensure the cleanliness of the area.
Requirements:
- Minimum PMR with proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
- Experience in working with children or handicapped children will be an advantage.
- Able to work on shift.
13. Admin Clerk
Main Responsibilities:
- To provide clerical and administration support to HR/Admin Department and also TSS Department.
- To assist in answering calls, walk-in visitors and donors.
Requirements:
- Minimum SPM.
- Pleasant personality and good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Good computer skills.
