Project Description
Better lives for children
TASKA ST.NICHOLAS was built in 2014 to provide day-care service for children with visual impairment. We take in children from ages of two to six, who are totally or partially blind.
The children stay in the TASKA from 9.00am to 4.30pm (Day Care). Our staff is trained in-house by the centre’s tutor and also attended KAP (Kursus Asuhan Permata).
We focus our efforts on equipping the children with various skills:
Self-help skills
1. Eating and drinking on their own
2. Dressing themselves
3. Toileting and bathing
Mobility – able to move around on their own.
We also engage the children in both indoor and outdoor exercises. Our curriculum also covers Braille numbers, the Braille alphabet, Mathematics, Sensorial Language, Culture, Music and Movement.
Our aim is to equip them with skills needed to become independent individuals so that they will be able to integrate within the community.
St Nicholas’ Home, Penang is a non-profit charitable organization, which aims to respond to the evolving needs of blind and visually impaired (BVI) community in Malaysia, irrespective of their religion, race and background.
