JCI United Penang Preloved Adult Clothing Charity Sale
Junior Chamber International (JCI) United Penang is a non-profit international organization found by a group of young active citizen with the aim of creating a positive impact to the communities. One of the current project of JCI is creating global awareness on garment wastage, to avoid pollution and energy-intensive production of new clothing. Xchange is a platform initiated by them to extend the lifespan of quality clothing.
JCI paid a visit to St. Nicholas’ Home on 29 August 2020 to understand the Home better and hope to increase the publicity and awareness of the blind and visually impaired (BVI). To show support and care while achieving their goal of the project, JCI plan to set up a charity event in SNH’s Tunku Hall to display second hand clothes donated from the public and sell them at affordable prices. In return, the fund raised will be donated to the Home.
We bring them a short tour around the Home to showcase our places, and highlighted our basketry, pastry and wellness centre. JCI also held an interview with our general manager, Mr David Chiang to get an advanced understanding about the services and programmes we provided.
On behalf of St Nicholas’ Home, I would like to thank JCI United Penang for the visit and take the initiative and effort to organize a fundraising event!
