Symposium on the Visually Impaired and New Norms

11 December 2021 – St. Nicholas’ Home, Penang held a “Symposium on the Visually Impaired and New Norms” at the Mercure Hotel Penang. The objectives of this event are to make known the challenges of the visually impaired during the New Norm, prepare the visually impaired to apply New Norm practices, teach the visually impaired how to manage their finances and savings, and build up the network between the visually impaired and the agencies that are involved. The keynote speaker of the symposium is Dr. Ahmad Shamsuri bin Muhamad, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology Education and Counseling at the University of Malaya. The other speakers are from Unit OKU from the Social Welfare Department, the Department of Ophthalmology and Penang Hospital Eye Clinic, SOCSO Penang, and the Credit Counselling and Management Agency (AKPK). There is also an exhibition table on eye health from Penang Hospital and also SOCSO. St. Nicholas’ Home, Penang would like to express our sincere gratitude to JKM for sponsoring this event.
