White Cane Day 2021

15 October 2021 – White Cane Day was celebrated in the United States on October 15th 1964, and it gradually became an international event for the blind. It is an event where the blind and visually impaired educate and raise awareness to the public about the rights and equality for the blind. It is also an opportunity for the public to observe how the blind and visually impaired live their daily lives and the challenges that they face. St. Nicholas’ Home, Penang celebrated White Cane Day on October 15th, 2021. Due to COVID-19, the event was held virtually on Zoom and Facebook Live. We invited our former trainees to share their work experiences with the participants of the event. Towards the end of the event, there were mini quizzes about the sharing sessions and some general knowledge about the blind and visually impaired. St. Nicholas’ Home would like to thank the participants and sponsors for making this event a successful one.
