World Sight Day

World Sight Day is an annual awareness event to focus global attention on blindness and visual impairment. It is held on the second Thursday of October. St. Nicholas’ Home Penang organized the World Sight Day celebration with the theme of “Vision First” on the 17th of October 2019 from 8.00am to 12.30pm in St. Nicholas’ Home Penang.

The objective of World Sight Day is to raise public awareness on the issues surrounding blindness and visual impairment. The event was successfully held with the participation and effort by the Ophthalmologist, Optometrist, Pharmaceuticals and Laboratories.

Dr. Wong Ching Lin, doctor from Penang Adventist Hospital presented an eye care talk “Prevention of Vision Loss by Early Detection of Eye Disease” and Mr. Effendy Bin Hashim from General Hospital of Penang presented on “Vision and Eye Health: How to self-check your vision”. Beside that, there were free eye & health screening, eye care exhibition booths and foot reflexology.
